Pinealon is the synthetic tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg, described as a short synthetic analogue of regulatory neuropeptides.
In cell studies by Khavinson and colleagues, pinealon was examined in rat cerebellar granule cells, rat neutrophils and PC12 cells for effects on reactive oxygen species, cell viability under oxidative stress and cell-cycle distribution.
The published evidence base is small and largely from one research group. No specific molecular target has been confirmed, and findings should not be generalized beyond the models studied.
