Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone made of non-covalently associated alpha (92-amino-acid) and beta (145-amino-acid) subunits. Like luteinizing hormone, it binds the LHCG receptor.
Beyond reproductive endocrinology, preclinical research has examined hCG and hCG-beta-derived peptides in inflammation models. A 2021 review by Yoo and colleagues summarizes that work.
