Cerebrolysin is a standardized porcine-brain-derived preparation of low-molecular-weight neuropeptides (under 10 kDa) and free amino acids, rather than a single defined peptide.
Experimental research has examined neurotrophic and neuroprotective endpoints, including excitotoxicity, neuroinflammation and neuronal sprouting. Clinical research includes the CARS trial in stroke rehabilitation, published in Stroke.
Because it is a mixture, batch composition and analytical characterization matter more than for single-sequence peptides. Clinical findings relate to the pharmaceutical product used in the trial and do not describe this research material.
