VIP: Mechanism & Published Research
Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide of the secretin/glucagon family. It signals through the G-protein-coupled receptors VPAC1, VPAC2 and PAC1, engaging cAMP/protein kinase A pathways.
Published preclinical work has examined VIP in immune-regulation models, including effects on inflammatory cytokines, Th1 responses and regulatory T cells. A review by Gonzalez-Rey and colleagues summarizes findings across several animal models of inflammatory and autoimmune disease.
Those observations are model-dependent and do not establish a treatment effect for the research material offered here. Receptor subtype, cell type and assay timing all influence reported outcomes.
Canada Peptide Supply currently lists 5mg and 10mg lyophilized vials. VIP is supplied strictly for laboratory research and analytical reference and is not approved for human or veterinary use.
Research use only: this information is provided for scientific reference. Canada Peptide Supply does not provide medical advice. VIP is not approved by Health Canada for human consumption, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease.
